DAGUPAN CITY – Five villages in this coastal Pangasinan city, including the downtown area, are flooded due to heavy rains dumped by Typhoon “Ompong” and due to the backflow from the sea.

As many as 1,466 residents have evacuated from their homes in Barangays Pantal, Pantal Guibang, Poblacion Oeste, Tapuac district and Barangays 2 and 3, according to disaster management officials.

At posting time, 4,137 families (15,790 residents) have fled to safer ground in 16 Pangasinan towns and four cities.
