SAN PEDRO CITY – Two illegal drug suspects were killed in separate shootouts in Cavite and Rizal provinces, while suspected shabu (crystal meth) worth P2 million was recovered in Bacoor City in Cavite province.
The regional police office, in a report Saturday, said suspect Francisco Viray was killed in a shootout around 8 p.m. Friday after the police responded to a reported commotion in Barangay 36-Caridad in Cavite City, Cavite.
Residents said Viray, who was previously arrested for drug charges, was threatening people with a gun.
The police were just about to approach the suspect when he began to open fire, forcing law enforcers to shoot him down.
The police took him to the Bautista Hospital but he died along the way. The police said they recovered a gun and an undetermined amount of shabu from the suspect.
In Cainta, Rizal, an alias “Boy” was the target of a buy-bust operation around 3 p.m. Friday in Barangay San Andres. Police said Boy engaged them in a gunfight, forcing them to shoot the suspect.
In Bacoor City, Cavite, the police recovered more than 291 grams of alleged shabu worth about P2 million pesos in a buy-bust operation around 5:30 p.m. in Barangay Molino 3.
City police chief Supt. Vicente Cabatingan said the target of the operation were couple Oliver and Luzviminda Barrameda. Oliver was also a village watchman.
After undercover policemen bought shabu worth P10,000, authorities searched the Barrameda home and discovered the rest of the stash kept in plastic bags and a plastic container.
The police arrested Luzviminda, their 19-year-old daughter Olive, Ma. Madiline Genimo, Romeo Menez, Gerardo Quinton, and Ariston Menez. Quinton and Ariston were also employees of the city environment office.
Cabatingan said Oliver was able to escape arrest after Quinton and Ariston warned him by shouting that it was a buy-bust operation.
