OLONGAPO CITY—A magnitude 6 earthquake that struck off Zambales on Wednesday caused no damage or injuries, disaster response officials in the province said.
Graciela Macabare, head of the provincial disaster risk reduction and management council, said residents felt the tremor past 8 a.m. but her office did not receive reports of earthquake-related damage or casualty.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the earthquake’s epicenter was 100 kilometers offshore northwest of Palauig, Zambales.
Phivolcs said the quake was followed by five weaker quakes recorded between 8:41 a.m. and 1:32 p.m. in the Palauig area and Agno, Pangasinan. These ranged from magnitude 1.8 to magnitude 4.2. Robert Gonzaga, Inquirer Central Luzon
