LUCENA CITY – Due to possible severe weather condition brought by typhoon “Ompong” (international name: Mangkhut), classes in all levels in public and private schools in Quezon province were declared suspended on Friday, September 14, the provincial information office announced Thursday night.
“This is in the interest of public safety due to threats of heavy rainfall and other safety hazards that Typhoon Ompong may pose,” Gov. David Suarez said in a statement.
The suspension of classes was decided by the Quezon Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office after the state weather bureau placed the province under storm Signal No. 1.
Several towns in Quezon had already decided to suspend classes in all levels since Thursday morning. /kga
