Grab Philippines on Thursday shared safety driving tips for riders and its driver-partners amid the nationwide preparation for Typhoon “Ompong” (international name: Mangkhut).
Here are the safety driving tips posted in the company’s official Facebook page:
- Maintain distance of 4 to 5 seconds for cars in front of you. It gives you additional time to react as visibility is reduced during heavy rain.
- Turn on the headlight. It increases how far you can see. This also gives additional indication of your location to other vehicles front of you.
- Use your windshield wiper. Adjust the speed depending on the rain.
- If road is closed, don’t try to drive around the barricade. The road is closed for a reason.
- Reduce speed by 6 kilometers per hour to any maximum speed indicated that is more than 55 kilometers per hour to avoid hydroplaning.
- Watch out for falling trees or posts most specially during strong winds.
The ride-hailing company also listed the service hotlines and other emergency services in the Grab app.
