Nograles says PDP-Laban ’seriously considering’ him for 2019 senate slate

Davao City Rep. Karlo Nograles said he’s being “seriously considered” by the ruling party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) to run for senator in the 2019 elections.

“I am one of the names being seriously considered. The list is getting smaller and smaller, and so far, I am still one of the list,” he said during Thursday’s Meet Inquirer Multimedia forum.

Nograles, who is also the Chair of the House Committee on Appropriations, said however that he has not decided yet whether he will run for senator in 2019.

He said he will only start talking to his family and “consider other aspects” when his name makes the final list of the party’s senatorial slate.

“Right now, my head is just so wrapped around this budget,” he added, referring to the proposed national budget for 2019. “Parang ang attitude ko is kung darating ‘yan, darating ‘yan (My attitude is if it will come, it will come).

Nograles said President Rodrigo Duterte’s PDP-Laban will complete the senatorial slate of 12 bets, but he said he is not sure whether all candidates will come from the party.

Senator Aquilino “Kiko” Pimentel III, president of the PDP-Laban, earlier revealed Nograles is one of their eight “very possible” senatorial candidates in the upcoming elections.

Also included in the list are Pimentel, Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go, Davao’s Francis Tolentino, Makati City Rep. Monsour del Rosario, Quirino Rep. Dakila Cua, Maguindanao Rep. Zajid “Dong” Mangudadatu, and Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque. /ee
