The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Thursday asked operators and drivers of all public utility vehicles (PUVs) to take precautionary measures against likely occurrence of strong winds, flash flood and landslides due to typhoon “Ompong” (international name: Mangkhut).
In an advisory, the LTFRB said operators and drivers of PUVs, especially buses, must monitor weather conditions before departure and to “remain at their respective terminals if necessary.”
The LTFRB likewise reminded PUV operators and drivers to “attend to the needs of their passengers” in the event of inconveniences due to the typhoon.
Ompong is expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds in Northern and Central Luzon. It is forecast to make landfall over the northern tip of Cagayan by Saturday morning. /kga
