Miaa cancels several flights due to ‘Ompong’

Several flights have been canceled  due to bad weather being experienced in parts of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, the Manila International Airport Authority (Miaa) said on Thursday.

In an advisory by Miaa, the following flights have been canceled:

Naia Terminal 4

M8 816 / 817 Manila-Basco
M8 817 – Basco-Manila
M8 – SkyJet

SkyJet

M8 816 – Manila-Basco
M8 817 – Basco Manila

Cebu Pacific Air

5J 703 – Manila Dipolog
5J 704 – Dipolog-Manila

Pal Express

2P 2959 – Manila-Cotabato

The Miaa ordered the cancellation of flights in anticipation of the effects of Typhoon “Ompong” which entered the country Wednesday afternoon.

“Ompong” is packing a maximum sustained winds of 205 kilometers per hour (kph) with gustiness of up to 255 kph. 

It is moving west with a speed of 30 kph, said Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) in its Thursday morning severe weather bulletin.

As of 4 a.m., the state weather bureau said that Ompong was last spotted at 780 kilometers East Northeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. /jpv
