Court orders transfer to Makati City Jail of NBI official facing drug case

The Makati City Regional Trial Court Branch 63 has ordered the Virac District Jail to transfer to the Makati City Jail a former ranking official of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) who owned the property where the shabu laboratory in Virac, Catanduanes was discovered in 2016.

Atty. Augusto Eric C. Isidoro, former acting regional director of NBI-Central Mindanao Regional Office (NBI-CEMRO) has been detained at the Virac District Jail since he surrendered early this year.

He is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 for conspiracy to manufacture dangerous drugs and/or controlled precursors and essential chemicals.

Isodoro will be transferred to another detention facility after the Supreme Court has allowed the transfer of the case from Virac Court to Makati.

The court order was signed by acting Presiding Judge Selma Palacio Alaras.

Isidoro owned the 1,000 square meter lot in Virac where the laboratory was built.

Authorities said the Virac shabu lab was probably the biggest discovered in the country with six hydrogenators that can produce up to 9.6 tons of shabu every month.  /muf
