At least 35 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves, worth P4.2 million were seized from six suspects, including two students, in Barangay Immaculate Conception, Cubao, Quezon City on Monday night.
A report from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said the six were arrested in a buy-bust operation at the Mary Grace Haven Apartment along Denver Street.
Police identified the suspects as Grenie Hierro, 34, and Lassery Ann Rayo, 30, both residents of Room 713 of the apartment; Anthony John Timpug, 39, of Floridablanca, Pampanga; Archie Visperas, 20, a student from Barangay San Roque in Cubao; Randbel Clifford Venzon, 20, of Barangay 186, Maricaban, Pasay City; and a 16-year old male student from Malibay, Pasay City.
Police also found 27 large rolls, seven large bricks, a plastic container, and a plastic bag containing marijuana leaves and fruiting tops covered in plastic wraps in the suspects’ possession.
Aside from the marijuana, police also seized other paraphernalia from the suspects such as a glass tube and a small pipe with traces of marijuana, two weighing scales, a grinder, rolling papers, a rolling machine, one backpack and seven cellular phones.
Police also recovered the marked P1,000 bill used in the bust along with five pieces of P1,000 bills and 21 other pieces of P1,000 bills used as “boodle” money.
During the presentation of the pieces of evidence on Monday evening, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Director Guillermo Eleazar commended the QCPD’s efforts in the war against illegal drugs.
“This is in line with the directive of Chief PNP, Director General Oscar Albayalde, in the relentless anti-drug campaign, to put behind bars all pushers na sumisira sa kinabukasan ng ating mga kabataan,” Eleazar said.
QCPD said that the suspects will be facing cases for violation of Sections 5, 11, and 26 of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. /muf
