CEBU CITY — Unidentified men attacked two shops owned by suspected drug lord Peter Lim here, lobbing homemade bombs at a massage parlor and a karaoke bar belonging to the now fugitive businessman.
No one was hurt in the attacks.
The first attack was on Chuva Chuva Massage Parlor in the village of Mabolo at around 2:45 a.m. on Saturday.
It damaged the shop’s ceiling and glass window.
The second attack came some 15 minutes later when two men on board a motorcycle lobbed another homemade bomb at Infinity KTV and Music Lounge, a karaoke bar, on Archbishop Reyes Street in the village of Kasambagan.
Dud
The second bomb did not explode, though.
Supt. Ryan Devaras, chief of Investigation, Detection and Management Branch of the Cebu City Police Office, said investigators have yet to know for sure if the two attacks were related, although they were on establishments both owned by Lim.
Lim had gone into hiding after a Makati City court issued arrest warrants for him and other coaccused in a drug case.
The attacks on Saturday were the fourth on establishments owned by Lim.
Two months ago, unidentified men set off two homemade bombs outside a showroom of Lim’s heavy equipment and truck dealership in the village of Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
Damaged vehicles
No one was hurt but the explosions tore holes into some of the vehicles outside the showroom of Hilton Motors owned by Lim.
On June 30, three armed men disarmed the security guard of Infinity KTV and Music Lounge and tried to start a fire inside the bar.
In March, gunmen fired at a vehicle being driven by Lim’s brother, Wellington, as it left the Infinity car park.
Wellington was unharmed but guard Wilson Bucag, 42, was killed.
Another guard and two foreigners passing by were wounded in the gun attack.
