The net trust rating of President Rodrigo Duterte in the second quarter of 2018 dropped by eight points but was still rated as “very good” by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) which conducted the survey.
President Duterte’s net trust rating dropped from +65 in March to +57 in June, based on the data released by SWS on Friday.
According to the survey, 70 percent of Filipinos have “much trust” in the President, while 13 percent have “little trust” and 18 percent are “undecided.”
Duterte’s net trust rating suffered the largest decline from very good to good in Visayas (+70 in March to +49 in June) and in Metro Manila (+62 in March to +42 in June), SWS has noted.
It however remained excellent in Mindanao at +88, and very good in balance Luzon at +50.
SWS noted that dissatisfaction with President Duterte further worsened among those who have little trust in him, which dropped by one grade from -29 in March to -45 in June.
The President’s net satisfaction rating, meanwhile, stayed excellent among those with much trust in his leadership, but went down by two points from +73 in March to +71 in June.
It stayed moderate among those who are undecided about their trust, although it still fell by 15 points from +26 in March to +11 in June, according to the survey.
The Chief Executive also suffered a lower net trust among severely hungry families with good +40, compared to his rating among moderately hungry families with very good +54, and non-hungry families with very good +57.
Those who said the quality of their lives worsened, those who expect their quality of life to worsen, and economic pessimists, meanwhile, all recorded a lower net trust on the President, the survey showed
The President’s rating fell from excellent to very good among college graduates, but stayed very good among non-elementary graduates and elementary and high-school graduates, the data added.
SWS conducted the survey with 1,200 Filipino adults as respondents on June 27 to 30, with 300 respondents each from Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, and ±3 margin of error. It computes the net trust rating by subtracting the rate of those with much trust from those with little trust. /muf
