SAN PEDRO CITY – Police recovered suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) worth about P2 million from a man wanted for murder in Batangas City.
Batangas police director Sr. Supt. Edwin Quilates, in a report, said police went to suspect Jojo Mallorca’s home in Barangay (village) Wawa to serve an arrest warrant for a murder case around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.
During the search, the police found about 300 grams of alleged shabu worth about P2 million in the suspect’s pouch and a .45 caliber gun. Mallorca ranked third in the police’s watchlist of drug personalities.
Still in Batangas, police shot and killed suspect Raymond Pateña in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Talaibon, Ibaan around midnight on Friday. This was after the suspect allegedly engaged law enforcers in a gunfight in an attempt to escape arrest.
The police recovered nine sachets of suspected shabu packed in an empty cigarette box and a .45 caliber gun.
In Cabuyao City, Laguna, another drug suspect, Leo Benitez, was also killed after shooting at undercover police during a drug operation in Barangay Mamatid, 3 a.m. Friday.
The police found a sachet of suspected shabu, a .38 caliber gun, and a motorcycle used by the suspect.
