Motorcycle ride-haling firm Angkas can now resume operations, 10 months after the government barred it from doing so.
This, after the Mandaluyong City Regional Trial Court issued Thursday a preliminary injunction preventing the government from implementing its order against the operations of Angkas.
The court directed the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) “from interfering, whether directly or indirectly,” with Angkas’ operations.
It also stopped the government “from apprehending Angkas bikers who are in lawful pursuit of their trade or occupation based on petitioner’s Angkas mobile application; and from performing any act or acts that will impede, obstruct, frustrate, or defeat [the] petitioner’s pursuit of its lawful business or trade as owner and operator of the Angkas mobile application.”
Angkas shared the news of the court order in a Twitter post.
“Guys, we’re a little shookt. Please give us time to adjust, alam namin excited kayo. Konting patience muna, mga mumsh, we’ll try to get more bikers to serve you all! #AngkasIsBack,” the company announced Thursday.
In November 2017, Angkas voluntarily suspended its operations in Metro Manila after the LTFRB said that it violated Republic Act No. 4136 or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code. /kga
