Senator Antonio Trillanes IV admitted that he has been experiencing lack of sleep after spending two nights in the Senate following the order of President Rodrigo Duterte to void his amnesty.
“Actually ilang oras lang ako nakakatulog. Obvious na siguro sa eyebags (Actually I only sleep for a few hours. Maybe it’s obvious with my eyebags),” he said during a press briefing on Thursday.

Trillanes has been sleeping at his Senate office since Tuesday after Duterte ordered his arrest.
Senate President Vicente Sotto III earlier said Trillanes cannot be arrested by authorities within the Senate premises.

Trillanes said one of the reasons why he chose to stay in the Senate is to show the “oppression” of Duterte against him, while he also noted that what he is doing will be “worth it.”
“Ang samin dito (for us), this is the price we have to pay for standing up for somebody like President Duterte. Pero liliwanag ‘yan sa tao (But this will be clear to the public). It’s going to be worth it,” he said.
“Maliliwanag sa kanila na nagoyo sila ni Mr. Duterte, nabudol-budol sila ni Mr. Duterte. Magaling lang magpatawa yung mama. Siguro dapat komedyante ‘yung inapplyan niya na trabaho at hindi Presidente ng Pilipinas,” he said.
(It will be clear to them that they were deceived by Mr. Duterte, that they were scammed. The old man is good at jokes. Maybe he should have applied to be a comedian for a job instead of being the President of the Philippines.)
Duterte earlier ordered to revoke the amnesty granted to Trillanes for his involvement in the 2003 Oakwood mutiny and the 2007 Manila Peninsula siege against then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Police officials said authorities will immediately arrest Trillanes as soon as the Makati Regional Trial Court releases the warrant. /muf
