SAN PEDRO CITY – Three suspected criminals were killed in a police shootout in Laguna and Rizal provinces.
In Calamba City, Laguna, police shot dead two unidentified men in Barangay Bucal around 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Regional police spokesperson Supt. Chitadel Gaoiraon, on Thursday, said victims, Angelyca Ona and Reynalyn Lluvioso, sought help from patrolling policemen after the suspects, on board a motorcycle, allegedly stopped them and took their bags at gunpoint.
She said policemen chased down the suspects until they reached Barangay Bucal. The suspects began to open fire, prompting law enforcers to retaliate, Gaoiran said.
The police recovered the stolen bags that contained a camera and cellphones, along with five sachets of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) from the slain men.
In Taytay, Rizal, illegal drug suspect Christopher Calvo was killed in a buy-bust operation around 6:30 p.m. in Barangay Sta. Ana.
Police said Christopher, who ranked third in the police watchlist, was the target of the operation along with his companions Paulo Calvo, Antonio Calvo, Janice Capule, and Angela Marie Capule.
In a report, police said they had not yet introduced themselves as law enforcers when Christopher suddenly opened fire as he tried to run away to the roof of their house. The police chased Christopher down and was killed during the gunfight.
The four other suspects were arrested.
The police said they recovered six sachets of alleged shabu and a .45 caliber gun.
