Lapu trader survives slay try
A 42-YEAR-OLD businessman survived an attempt on his life by two men who posed as customers in barangay Pajac, Lapu-Lapu City, last Monday morning.
Macrohon Pradia, owner of Pradia Motor Parts, was wounded in the left arm in the attack.
Police said Pradia was in his store when two men arrived asking how much a repair of a multicab would cost.
While they were talking, one of the men drew a gun. Pradia was able to cover for safety before the assailant could pull the trigger.
The assailant fired several shots, and the businessman was lucky that he only sustained a minor injury.
Police said one of the assailants pointed a gun at Pradia’s son but did not shoot him.
The assailants fled on separate motorcycles driven by their cohorts, said police.
Three empty shells of a .45 pistol and two slugs were recovered in the crime scene.

ESCAPEE’S ‘COHORT’ KNOWN
THE man who helped an inmate of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) escape has been identified, said police.
Francisco Amacani was the one who drove the motorcycle boarded by Jojo Gañolon, who escaped last Monday after attending a court hearing in Argao town, southern Cebu, said Senior Supt. Patrocinio Comendador, chief of the Cebu Provincial Police Office.
Comendador said that in a follow-up investigation, it was learned that Amacani owns the motorcycle used by Gañolon in escaping.
Amacani lives in Dalaguete town, said police.
Gañolon and 20 other inmates had just attended a court gearing at the Regional Trial Court Branch 26 in Argao when the escape occurred.
The inmates were brought to a nearby carenderia for lunch.
Gañolon’s handcuff was removed so he could properly eat.
Police said that while the inmates were eating, Gañolon ran outside and boarded a motorcycle driven by another man.
Two men on a motorcycle believed to be cohorts were seen following the fleeing inmate, said police.
Operations to arrest Amacani and Gañolon are ongoing, said police.
Gañolon was arrested by the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) last Aug. 13 in a buy-bust operation in barangay Balud, Dalaguete, where his brother Joseph was killed after they allegedly figured in a shoo-tout with the police. /CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC
