A showcase of businesses will be held from Dec. 5 to Dec. 7 at the Activity Center of Ayala Center Cebu.
The event is aligned with Global Entrepreneurship Week, the world’s largest campaign to promote entrepreneurship.
Dubbed Social Enterprise 2011, the activity was founded by CIE British School Basic Education students in partnership with underprivileged families in Cebu.
Students will display products in their respective booths, including frames, flowers, jewelry, photos and gift items.
These businesses were developed under the CIE Gift of GOLD (Giving of Oneself to those who have Less and are Disadvantaged) programme.
The student’s chosen family beneficiary will also be present during the affair.
All proceeds of the event will go to the family beneficiary of the student’s choice.
The activity will serve as a training ground for social entrepreneurs and develop CIE students’ social awareness as well as their skills in applying the theoretical knowledge acquired from the classroom.
Participating students from the school’s Business Studies classes are organized into companies.
Led by a chief executive officer and other corporate officers, each company comes up with a business plan and develops its product and marketing strategies.
The students help run the businesses and will turn them over to their partner beneficiaries when they graduated.
The marketing collaterals of the participating companies will be judged according to best video advertisement, best booth design and product display, best tarp advertisement, best marketing kit and best brochure.
