Isabela cop found dead in river at coastal Palanan town

CITY OF CAUAYAN, Isabela – The remains of a police officer were found floating at the Pinacanauan river in Centro East village in coastal Palanan town at 7 a.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 4).

Senior Police Officer 2 Patrick Udan, 41, a member of the PNP Palanan and assigned at the Aviation Station in Maligaya village, was fished out of the river after boat operator Jaypee Bautista of Marikit village alerted the authorities.

Udan took part in a picnic with Police Officer 1 Villamor Viloria at the riverbank on Monday (Sept. 3) at 1:30 p.m. and was considered missing at 4:30 p.m.

Investigators have not discounted foul play because Udan’s disappearance was not immediately reported.

Palanan can be reached only by airplane from either the cities of Cauayan or Tuguegarao or by boat from Aurora Province. VILLAMOR VISAYA JR.
