A magnitude 4.0 earthquake hit Southern Leyte on Tuesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs report showed that the quake hit 5 kilometers northeast of Sogod, Southern Leyte, at 6:25 a.m.
The tremor of tectonic origin had a depth of one kilometer.
The Phivolcs noted that no damage and aftershocks could be expected from the earthquake. /cbb
