Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista has approved an ordinance regulating traffic on certain streets within Barangay Del Monte.
The Sangguniang Barangay of Barangay Del Monte earlier passed a resolution requesting the city council to adopt measures regulating traffic flow in the area by restricting parking and the entry of heavy trucks and providing penalties for violations.
The barangay experiences heavy traffic during rush hour as it has been commonly used as alternative route going from Roosevelt Avenue to Del Monte Avenue and vice versa.
“There is a need to prescribe a systematic, organized and fully implementable mechanism of maximizing the limited road space available to ensure the smooth and unhampered flow of traffic,” the ordinance read.
The following roads are now designated as “one-side parking areas”: E. Porto Street from Valencia up to Pat Senador Street; Lincoln Street from Osmeña up to Pat Senador; Tolentino Street from Osmeña up to Pat Senador; Santiago Street from Osmeña up to Pat Senador; San Antonio Street from Osmeña up to Pat Senador; Canseco Street from Tolentino up to E. Porto; Florencia Street from Tolentino up to West Riverside; and West Riverside Street from San Pedro up to Pat Senador.
From 5 to 8 p.m. daily, parking is prohibited on either side of the following: Osmeña Street from Roosevelt Avenue up to Del Monte Avenue, passing through E. Porto Street, Valencia Street and West Riverside Street; Tolentino Street from Del Monte Avenue up to Osmeña; and West Riverside Street from Valencia up to San Pedro.
Container vans and 10-wheeler trucks are banned on the following streets: Pat Senador, Osmeña, Pitimini, Tolentino, San Pedro Bautista, and West Riverside.
