Suspected drug pusher slain in Laguna

SAN PEDRO CITY – A suspected illegal drug pusher was slain in a shootout in San Pablo City in Laguna province, police said Sunday.

According to a report from the regional police office, Jun Capalad was killed in a buy-bust operation around 10:30 p.m. Saturday in Barangay VII-E.

The police were about to arrest him when Capalad allegedly drew a gun and fired at the lawmen. The police shot back and hit him several times.

The police said Capalad died while being taken to the San Pablo District Hospital.

Capalad alleged supplied “shabu” to the city market area and in the villages of Santiago, San Gabriel, and San Gregorio in the city. He was included in the police’s watchlist of illegal drug personalities.

In 2013, Capalad got involved in a stabbing incident but the case did not prosper after an amicable settlement with his victim, the police said.

The police recovered from Capalad four sachets of suspected shabu, a gun, and a motorcycle. /cbb
