3 die as truck rams house in Albay

OAS, Albay – Three persons died instantly when a 14-wheeler truck accidentally crashed into a shanty along the diversion road in Iraya Norte village here on Friday evening.

The fatalities were identified as Sulpicio Gados, a resident of Polangui town, also in Albay, Giovanni Raton and Gerald Satuito.

The truck came from Camalig town and was going to Metro Manila when the driver Roger Marcaida accidentally lost control of the vehicle, hitting the house around 7 p.m. , initial police investigation showed.

Marcaida admitted that he experienced mechanical problem while he was driving.

In an interview, Marcaida asked for forgiveness from the relatives of the victims.

It was learned that the victims, except Gados, were related to each other.

Gados was at the house to visit his fiancé, a member of the Raton family, whom he was set to marry this December.

Meanwhile, police said the truck driver might be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide. MICHAEL JAUCIAN
