A 6-year-old boy’s story of how he stood up and got beaten by bullies was found to be false, police said.

The Olympia Police Department in Washington confirmed suspicions on Thursday that the story of the boy was not holding up, and the injuries might have been from another attack, local media KOMO reported.

Police first recorded an assault of an unidentified boy last Aug. 22, reportedly inflicted by a group of children in an apartment complex. His mother told police that her son was beaten with sticks and rocks, was rubbed with sawdust in his eye and was kicked.  The boy sustained a broken arm, bruises on his face and a cut on his eye, which required surgery.

However, authorities found that his injuries were a result of a fall in the apartment complex. “As a result, there are no suspects of any age,” police said.

Previously, police found a 5-year-old boy as a “primary aggressor.” But the boy then admitted to authorities that he made up the story after they asked those involved.

A GoFundMe page was set up for the boy to help with medical expenses, but has since been deleted.  Katrina Hallare /ra
