SUBIC, Zambales – Three fishermen were rescued on Monday (Aug. 27) by the Coast Guard after their fishing boat capsized in the waters off this town.

Big waves and strong winds battered the boat carrying fishermen Balidong Dedosil, 40; Boboy Ombahin, 32; and Olan Lutchaves, 29, on Sunday (August 26), said Chief Petty Officer Jerry Alano, station commander of PCG substation here.

Alano said the fishermen, who left this town on August 18, clung to their boat’s outrigger for two days.

The fishermen eventually floated towards Capones Island in nearby San Antonio town where PCG personnel stationed on the island spotted them.

“The fishermen were starving when they were rescued but they are now in good condition” Alano told the Inquirer. ALLAN MACATUNO
