Dengue kills 3 in Romblon

At least three people have died of dengue in Romblon province over the past month, with the number of cases of the mosquito-borne disease up by 129 percent from last year, health officials said.

The Department of Health in Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) region said 289 dengue cases were reported in Romblon from January to Aug. 24. Only 126 cases and two deaths were reported during the same period last year.

Three people, two of them children aged 3 and 6, had died in the towns of Odiongan, San Andres and San Agustin from July to August. —MARICAR CINCO
