DID YOU KNOW: Rice and Corn Week

Rice and Corn Week is observed from Aug. 29 to Sept. 5 by virtue of Proclamation No. 304 signed on Aug. 28, 1964 by then President Diosdado Macapagal. According to the proclamation, increased production of the country’s staple crops will bring about a more abundant life for Filipinos. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
