ORMOC CITY, Philippines—Police have arrested a 23-year-old woman suspected of robbing and killing a Chinese businessman in a pension house in this city over three months ago.
Jarissa Macraw was arrested Thursday night inside the Buena’s Pension House, a day after Judge Apolinario Buaya of the 8th Regional Trial Court Branch 35 issued a warrant for the suspect’s arrest.
Macraw and another suspect, Everest Sedney Keller, who remained at large, were charged for the robbery and killing of Kris T. Dy, owner of Tsinoy’s Grill, said Inspector Virgilio Bayon-on, police station 3 chief, who led the arresting team.
Chief Inspector Bernard Lao of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Northern Leyte said Macraw was initially considered a state witness and as such, had been staying in the pension house owned by the victim’s family.
But the resolution from the prosecutor’s office identified her as an accomplice, Lao said.
Judge Buaya recommended a P200,000 bail for Macraw, who was committed to the Ormoc BJMP the same day of her arrest.
