Protesters occupy Recto, Mendiola

Demonstrators from various groups converge at the corner of Recto Avenue and Legarda Street on Monday, August 28, 2018, to demand a higher minimum wage and an end to contractualization. INQUIRER.NET / FAYE ORELLANA

Hundreds of protesters occupied on Monday both lanes of Recto Avenue as they marched towards the Mendiola Peace Arch  to call for higher minimum wage and an end to contractualization.

“Manggagawang contractual, gawing regular! Sahod, itaas! Presyo, ibaba!” the labor groups chanted.

“Ang tao, ang bayan, ngayon ay lumalaban!” they added.

Labor groups present in the rally were Kilusang Mayo Uno, BMP, Sanlakas, and Partido ng Manggagawa, among others.
