The shooting contest named after him would help in reforming erring policemen, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said on Thursday.
According to Albayalde, the proceeds of the three-day “Oca Cup” organized by the Officers’ Ladies Club (OLC) will fund the construction of schools, churches, and chapels in different areas across the nation.
“Ito pong proceeds nito will be used by the Officers’ Ladies Club in repairs or ‘yung iba, construction of our schools sa iba’t-ibang mga regions,” he told participants of the “Oca Cup” in Barangay Fortune, Marikina City.
“These chapels and churches and prayer rooms would probably help and we really hope that it would help in the values formation and spiritual upliftment of our police officers,” he added.
Albayalde said the program falls under the restorative function of the PNP’s internal cleansing program (ICP).
“This is all part ng aming internal cleansing because [it] is composed of three parts. It’s preventive, it’s punitive, and it’s restorative,” he added.
PNP has vowed on several occasions to revitalize its ICP after several young officers were caught in illegal activities. /vvp
