Kabataan solon says Imee ‘trying to revise history’

Kabataan Rep. Sarah Elago has condemned Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos’ “move on” remark, branding it as an “attempt to revise history” and to “cover up their huge crimes against the people to make way for their rise back to Malacañang.”
In a press conference on Tuesday, the daughter of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos told Filipinos to move on from criticizing their family. She added that most of the millennials have already moved on from the feud between the Marcoses and the Aquinos.
Last Tuesday was also the 35th anniversary of the late Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr.’s assassination.

“Imee Marcos blabbers plain lie. Kapatid nga talaga ng magnanakaw ang sinungaling, ano? Hindi ba nabalitaan ni Governor Imee ang libo-libong millennials na nagprotesta laban sa pagpapalibing kay Ferdinand Marcos sa libingan ng mga bayani? Ang mga kabataan ay sumigaw at patuloy na sumisigaw ng ‘Never Again,’ patuloy na lumalaban sa pagbabalik ng mga Marcos sa kapangyarihan,” Elago said in a statement on Thursday.

Elago stressed that the millennials and the youth in general, would not move on from the Marcoses’ crimes against the Filipino people “until justice has been served to the thousands of Filipinos who were killed, abducted, and tortured under their reign.”

“Hindi kami mag-momove on hanggang hindi nananagot ang mga Marcos sa dami ng pinatay nilang Pilipino. Hindi kami mag-momove on sa dami nang ninakaw nila sa kaban ng bayan. Hindi kami mag-momove on hanggang nananatili ang mga Marcos sa kapangyarihan at hindi sila nananagot sa mga kasalanan nila sa bayan,” she added.
(We will never move on until the Marcoses are not held liable for the deaths of Filipinos. We will never move on for the robbery they have done. We will never move on until the Marcoses remain in power and they are not held liable for the sins they have committed against the country.)
The progressive lawmaker, likewise, called on the youth and students to join them to walk out on the streets on Sept. 26 to “condemn the government’s tyranny and fascism along with its allegiance with the likes of the Marcoses.”
“Let us mount our biggest mobilization on September 26 to commemorate the declaration of Martial Law in 1972, and together, we will shout ‘Never Again’ to fascist dictatorships,” Elago said. /jpv
