Mar Roxas parries questions on plans for 2019 nat’l elections
Former Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II dodged questions on whether he would run for any position in the upcoming 2019 midterm national elections.
Roxas declined to give a straightforward answer to reporters on the matter but said many people have been encouraging him to run in the 2019 polls.
“Alam nyo ‘yung pagtakbo sa totoo lang marami namang nage-encouragee at marami nagtatanong. Lahat naman tayo maaaring magsilbi at tumulong sa iba’t ibang kapasidad pribado man o sa public, ang importante lahat ng Pilipino united,” he told reporters before the start of the mass commemorating the 35th death anniversary of former senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr. at the Manila Memorial Park in Sucat, Parañaque City, Tuesday.
“Kung ano man ang gagampanan ng isang Mar Roxas, makakaasa kayo na sa pribado man o sa public sector makakaasa kayo na sasama ako… kumbaga sa pagtulong na gumanda ang ating bukas,” he continued.
Roxas also did not answer when asked if he would instead support in the campaign of the opposition in 2019. /vvp/ac
