TUGUEGARAO CITY — The Cagayan police have uncovered leads to what appears to be the politically motivated killing of a former Solana town councilor in Barangay (village) Pallua Sur here on Sunday, according to a belated police report.

June Cusipag, a 44-year-old Bachelor of Laws graduate and a three-term councilor, was walking home through an alley at the Cagelco Village Subdivision when a hooded assailant shot him with a handgun, according to Senior Supt. Warren Tolito, Cagayan police director.

The gunman drove off in a gray Fortuner sports utility vehicle.

The subdivision where Cusipag was killed was the same place where incumbent 64-year-old town councilor Alfredo Alvarez was shot and killed by gunmen on July 29. /cbb
