Call center agents yield P275K worth of marijuana
Fifteen kilos of dried marijuana leaves worth at least P275,000 were seized from call center agents allegedly moonlighting
as drug pushers in Quezon City on Monday. Members of the National Capital Region Police Office’s Regional Drugs Enforcement Unit (NCRPO-RDEU) arrested Francis Marie Cayabyab, 28, and Michael Mena, 29. A report from Insp. Ferdinand Mendoza, NCRPO-RDEU chief, said undercover operatives initially bought 5 kilos of marijuana from the suspects on A. Bonifacio Avenue in Balintawak. The duo, however, fled on their black Toyota Innova after sensing they were dealing with policemen. A chase ensued, ending with the suspects being cornered on Malaya Street in La Loma. Found inside their vehicle were 10 more kilos of marijuana. Senior Supt. Robert Sales, chief of the La Loma police station, said their two-month surveillance of the suspects showed that the duo got their marijuana supply from Baguio City and Nueva Ecija and distributed it among drug peddlers in Quezon City. Cayabyab, however, denied that she was a pusher, saying she only delivered drugs to their customers, earning P1,000 per transaction.—Dexter Cabalza
