RDC to tackle flyovers later
THERE was no stormy floor debate after all.
Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama yesterday used his welcome remarks to the Regional Development Council (RDC) in Centraly Visayas to introduce the controversial report of a Technical Working Group (TWG), which seeks a moratorium on flyovers in Metro Cebu.
After reading aloud its recommendations, Rama had the report calendared for discussion in the next RDC meeting in March 2012.
A showdown was expected with critics and supporters of the flyovers taking the boat ride to Bohol province, where the RDC 7’s last full council meeting of the year was held.
Raul del Mar briefly took the floor to question Rama’s mention of the TWG report as “out of bounds” since it was earlier outvoted at the committee level.
Discussion shifted after Tagilaran City Mayor Dan Lim called for a stop to flyover talk to allow other regional issues on the agenda to be taken up.
