Alleged motorcycle thief slain in Cavite

SAN PEDRO CITY — A man accused of stealing a motorcycle was shot dead while his companion had escaped arrest in Noveleta town in Cavite province on Sunday morning.

The slain suspect was identified as Christian Abudi.

In a report, the Cavite police said the victim, Darwin Encarnacion, reported to patrolling policemen that two men took his motorcycle around 3:30 a.m. in Barangay Poblacion.

Encarnacion told the police that the suspects, onboard another motorcycle, blocked him and took his vehicle at gunpoint.

Police immediately chased the suspects until they were cornered in the same village. One of the suspects started firing at the cops, prompting them to shoot back.

Abudi died on the way to the hospital, while his still unidentified companion was able to escape, the police said.

The police recovered the stolen motorcycle. /ee
