Escapee shot dead in Bacoor City

SAN PEDRO CITY – One of the detainees who bolted the Bacoor City police jail in Cavite province last month was killed in a police shootout in Bacoor on Saturday.

A report from city police chief Supt. Vicente Cabatingan said police located the fugitive Michael Salac, who was initially arrested for illegal drug charges on May 22, inside the Mary Homes subdivision in Barangay Molino 4 around 5 a.m.

The police asked him to surrender but Salac instead fired shots at the law enforcers. The police shot back and killed him.

Salac was one of the 23 detainees, who escaped from the city police’s detention last July 27 by overpowering a jail guard.

The police have recaptured the majority of the escapees, including their supposed leader, Jene Lloyd Bernabe.

Cabatingan said they were looking for six more. MARICAR CINCO
