American-German man dies in Oriental Mindoro road mishap

CITY OF CALAPAN – A 66-year-old American-German man died in a vehicular accident Friday night along Oriental Mindoro’s Strong Republic Nautical Highway in this city, police said.

According to Supt. Imelda Tolentino, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan) police information officer, a Fuso 10-wheeler truck driven by Ricci Butac, 35, was going to Calapan pier when it crashed into the multi-cab van driven by victim Victor Rudnizki.

Police said the multi-cab was coming from the opposite direction of the highway at around 6:30 p.m. along Barangay (village) Bayanan when it suddenly swerved to truck’s lane.

Tolentino said Rudnizki died on the spot while Butac was taken into custody by the Calapan police for investigation./muf
