Sandoval scores unanimous win over Honor

SIATON, Negros Oriental — Marlou Sandoval Singwangcha (7W-0L-2D, 3 KOs) maintained his unbeaten record in front of his highly animated hometown fans by scoring a unanimous decision win over Roel “Kokoy” Honor of Butuan City.

Sandoval scored knockdowns in rounds one and four and continued to land the more telling punches throughout the eight-round, non-title main event held Sunday at the municipality gymnasium of Siaton, Negros Oriental.

The journeyman Honor suffered his fourth loss this year and dropped to 6W-28L-2D. The scorecards read 78-72, 80-70 and 79-72.

In the undercard, Sesustener Llanera Singwangcha of Bais, Neg. Oriental won by first round TKO against Honey Boy Vidad of Siquijor with a powerful right followed by a flurry of punches.

Jayson Redondo Singwangcha of Ormoc City utilized a steady body attack to win by unanimous decision against Andelou Adajar of Butuan City after 6 rounds while Jonathan Francisco of Davao City beat Renjie Sabanal of Siaton by 4 round split decision.

Francisco knocked down Sabanal in round two but it was a give-and-take brawl the rest of the way. The two judges gave the fight to Francisco, 38-37 while one judge had Sabanal the winner, 38-37.

In the opening bout of the evening, Lyndel Radoc of Siaton won by unanimous decision Arnel Caoktoy Singwangcha of Ormoc City in a four rounder with all three judeges scoring the fight, 39-37.    /Correspondent Rene Bonsubre Jr.
