LUCENA CITY – Two men were killed by motorcycle-riding suspects in separate shooting incidents in San Antonio and Unisan towns in Quezon province on Thursday and Friday.
Unidentified men shot and killed Erwin Gonzales, 33, a small town lottery bet collector supervisor, while the latter was standing in front of the lottery office in Barangay (village) Puri, at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, Senior Supt. Randy Buenaventura, San Antonio police chief, said.
The suspect escaped aboard a motorcycle driven by a cohort.
Gonzales died on the spot from at least 10 bullet wounds from a caliber .45 pistol.
Initial investigation showed that the killing was motivated by an “old personal grudge,” police said.
“With [that number] of bullets, the gunman was motivated by strong personal rage. It was not the work of a gun-for-hire,” Buenaventura said in a phone interview. He said the police were hunting down the suspect.
In Unisan town, riding-in-tandem suspects shot Randal de los Reyes, while aboard his motorcycle, in different parts of his body. The suspects had been tailing him in Barangay Socorro around 2:30 a.m. Friday, police said.
Gonzales died on arrival at the Unisan Medicare Community Hospital where he was taken.
