The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) has reminded its officials and employees to be “mindful” of the content of what they post or share on social or mainstream media.
Undersecretary Lorraine Badoy, who is also PCOO’s chair for gender and development, issued a memorandum on Aug. 13 in the aftermath of the controversial “I-pepe-dede-ralismo” video posted by her colleague, Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson.
Uson and pro-Duterte blogger Drew Olivar’s lewd video on federalism received widespread criticism.
“[T]he undersigned would like to remind you, along with all officials and employees, of our role in creating a positive impact toward gender issues and portrayal of women in the media since we play a crucial role in raising public awareness and shape public opinion,” Badoy said.
Highest degree of excellence
She also reminded his colleagues that as public servants, they were bound by Republic Act No. 6713, or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
“Public officials and employees shall perform and discharge their duties with the highest degree of excellence, professionalism, intelligence and skill,” Badoy said, citing RA 6713. —NESTOR CORRALES
