Drug user facing murder charge killed in Tondo buy-bust

An alleged drug user who had been charged with murder was shot dead in a police encounter in Tondo, Manila Wednesday night.

Officers of the Moriones Police Station on Thursday said they collared the 45-year old suspect Ivan Dodong along Gate 17 of Parola Compound after a buy-bust operation around 11:20 pm.

Police said a shootout happened after Dodong sensed his buyer was a policeman.

Recovered from the scene were a sachet of suspected shabu or crystal meth, a caliber .45 gun, a magazine, live ammunition, P200 used as marked money, and a sling bag.

Police said Dodong, who was part of the drug watchlist in Tondo, also had a warrant of arrest for the murder of a certain Tranquilino Buelga. /je
