Train operations of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) were briefly interrupted Wednesday morning after a trespasser was found loitering the tracks between the Ayala and Magallanes stations.

A security guard was reportedly forced to shoot the intruder in the foot after the trespasser started throwing rocks and resisting arrest.

An incident report from the MRT-3 management said they found a man on the tracks at 8:43 a.m. and promptly sent security personnel to apprehend him.

The tracks between the two stations in Makati are on street-level, the management noted.

When the security men tried to approach the intruder, the man reportedly started throwing rocks at them. Despite the resistance, three MRT-3 security men and a policeman managed to subdue the trespasser and eventually arrest him at 8:47 a.m.

During this time, the MRT-3 management stopped the operations of both Quezon City and Pasay-bound train lines.

The man, who was not immediately identified, was taken to the Ospital ng Makati after he was shot in the ankle by one of the MRT-3 guards.

A separate report from the Makati police identified the involved security guard as Federico Bustamante, 30.

The police confiscated a 9-mm pistol, a magazine with three live bullets. He is under investigation.

Train operations went back to normal at 8:50 a.m. /cbb
