SAN PEDRO CITY – Police recovered suspected shabu (crystal meth) worth about P4 million from a young couple and their father in a buy-bust operation in Dasmariñas City, Cavite on Monday afternoon.
In Calatagan, Batangas, police killed a member of a robbery and drug group in a shootout.
The target of the Cavite police operation were suspects Anisah Bongcarao, 19, and her 17-year-old male partner. Also arrested were a 15-year-old male and Anisah’s father, Paks Bongcarao, 63.
The suspects were natives of Marawi City.
The operation at the suspects’ home in Barangay Datu Esmael, took place days after authorities announced that a ton of shabu might have slipped into the local drugs trade.
This was after anti-narcotics agents found metal lifters with suspected shabu residue in a warehouse in the adjacent town of General Mariano Alvarez.
Supt. Alvin Consolacion, Dasmariñas City police chief, however, doubted the possibility that Bongcarao’s supply may have come from that larger drug shipment.
“We just actually learned about their (Bongcarao’s) activities about two days ago,” he said in a phone interview Tuesday.
The police recovered 625 grams of shabu placed in a plastic bag.
“They were initially asking that we buy 25 grams worth P42,000 but we didn’t have that money (for the buy-bust) and arranged (through an undercover police) that we only buy P4,200-worth,” he said.
Consolacion said they were still tracing Bongcarao’s source. The two minors were turned over to the social welfare office.
In Barangay Poblacion 3, Calatagan, policemen serving a warrant of arrest at 2:30 p.m. Monday killed drug and crime suspect Roland Francisco after the latter put up a fight.
Roland was allegedly a member of the Francisco Group, whose five members were slain in a police operation in Nasugbu town on July 25.
Roland had escaped from that operation and was since tagged as the sixth most wanted criminal in Nasugbu.
Police said Roland died on the way to the Calatagan Medicare Hospital.
