The water level at the Marikina River continues to recede after breaching the critical 20-meter mark over the weekend.
As of 7:40 p.m. Monday, the Marikina Public Information Office said the river’s water level was at 15.3 meters, but the city’s alert status remains on first alarm.
On Saturday evening, Marikina River’s water level reached 20.6 meters amid the non-stop downpour due to the enhanced southwest monsoon, prompting authorities to evacuate many residents from low-lying areas.
Classes in all levels from public and private schools on Tuesday were still suspended in the city.
