Rains submerge 25 villages, destroy 24 houses in Calabarzon – police

Heavy rains submerged at least 25 villages in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon (Calabarzon) as it also damaged 24 houses across the area, the regional police reported Monday.

According to the Calabarzon police, non-stop downpour inundated 18 barangays in Rizal and seven barangays in Cavite.

It added that 14 houses in Tanza town in Cavite and 10 other houses in Cavite City were destroyed by flood.

Nevertheless, police said all roads in Calabarzon remain passable for all types of vehicles except Imelda Avenue in Bo. San Isidro in Cainta, Rizal where light vehicles were not advised to pass through due to flooding.

The state weather bureau’s 12 noon bulletin said light to at times heavy rain may be expected over Calabarzon within the next 2-3 hours. Faye Orellana    /kga
