Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III has suspended work in the Senate starting 11 a.m. Monday.
“We are suspending work by 11,” Sotto said in a Viber message to reporters.
“ (I) can’t suspend totally agad because there are some pending checks needed by some Senate offices,” he added.
Sotto said they thought the weather would be better by Monday morning.
The Senate leader further said he was also informed by Senator Panfilo Lacson that half of the Senate employees were affected by floods.
In a tweet, Lacson’s office also announced the suspension of the hearing of the Senate committee on public order scheduled at 10 a.m.
“The hearing by the Senate Committees on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs and Local Government on the rank classification in the Philippine National Police will not push through today due to bad weather conditions,” it read.
Lacson chairs the committee on public order.
The office of Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, meanwhile, said the Senate committee on energy will still push through with its hearing at 9 a.m. /kga
