Coast Guard: Nearly 200 passengers stuck in ports due to bad weather

About 200 passengers have been stranded in various ports in the country amid the prevailing inclement weather due to storm-enhanced southwest monsoon, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported.

As of 4 a.m. Monday, the PCG said 193 passengers were not able to travel to their desired destinations since persistent rains caused unfavorable sea condition .

The highest number of stranded passengers were from the port of Pasacao in Camarines Sur with a total of 91 passengers, according to the PCG report.

It added that 74 passengers in Northern Luzon ports were stopped from travelling while 28 passengers were stranded in the port of Batangas.

Meanwhile, the PCG said 30 motorbancas and five vessels were prevented to sail due to adverse weather and sea situation. Faye Orellana     /kga
