PH Coast Guard: 600 passengers stranded in ports due to bad weather

More than 600 passengers were stranded in various ports in the country as the southwest monsoon continue to pose threat in the country, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) monitored on Sunday morning.

In an advisory sent at 9:15 a.m., the PCG said that a total of 635 passengers, 19 motorbancas, and seven vessels were stranded in several ports in the country due to unfavorable weather and sea condition.

According to the tally of PCG, about 300 passengers were stranded in the port of Real, Quezon and 160 in the port of Polillo.

Meanwhile, 70 passengers were halted from traveling in Pasacao port, 61 in the port of Infanta, 26 in the port of Tingloy, and 18 in Calatagan port.

The seven stranded vessels, on the other hands, were supposedly set to depart in Southern Luzon, particularly from the ports of Calapan, Tilik, and Real.

Motorbancas located in Southern Luzon as well were also prevented from traveling due to the bad sea condition. Out of the 19 stranded motorbancas, 12 were coming from the port of Infanta, Quezon.

The PCG also reported one vessel that was “taking shelter” in Calatagan port in Batangas. /je
