Classes on Saturday have been suspended due to persistent rainfall and threats of flooding bought by the southwest monsoon or “habagat.”
The following local government units have ordered the suspension of classes:
Metro Manila
- City of Manila – all levels, public and private
- Valenzuela City – all schools with Saturday classes and other activities
- Malabon City – all levels, afternoon classes only
- Caloocan City – all levels, public and private, afternoon classes
Central Luzon

Dinalupihan, Bataan – all levels, public and private

Hermosa, Bataan – all levels, public and private
- Mariveles Bataan – all levels, public and private
CALABARZON

Cainta, Rizal – college level, public and private, afternoon and evening classes

Antipolo City – all levels, public and private
Heavy rainfall affected by the “habagat” could also trigger flooding in some areas, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned.
Pagasa said tropical storm “Karding” accelerated overnight as it moved northwest, while another tropical depression was spotted 1040 km west of extreme Northern Luzon. /muf
